Spike Chunsoft recently announced that Danganronpa 2×2 will launch on January 14, 2027. The new game is a full remake of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, which originally launched for the PSP in 2012, but it also features a completely new storyline called the Slayhem Mode – with brand-new culprits, victims, and plot-twists.
With the release date right around the corner, it seems like the publishers, and other related parties, have been putting a lot of effort into cranking out Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa 2×2 merchandise while the hype is still strong. Although, Danganronpa has always been “merchandisable” in Japan, with new waves of Monokuma and Nagito Komaeda-themed goodies dropping every now and then regardless of whether there’s a new release on the way or not.
That being said, Bandai has announced some new Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair merch that will be lined up exclusively as part of the Bandai Fashion Collection corner of the Bandai Premium website in Japan.
While the new merch lineup offers things like cute Monokuma and Monomi hairbands and a “singing” acrylic standee of the game’s official logo, the star of the show is undoubtedly the canonically accurate underwear.
Coming in two different designs, the polyester boxers are faithful reproductions of the undergarments respectively worn by Hajime Hinata and Nagito Komaeda. Those who have played the original Danganronpa 2 may be familiar with Komaeda’s grey checkered boxers (traditionally, all Danganronpa games allow players to obtain the panties of their favorite characters). On the other hand, while Hajime’s panties do not directly appear in game, the blue-white cherry blossom design is also canon.
The briefs will be available in both men’s M/L sizes and women’s M/L sizes, and are scheduled to start shipping in February 2027. While preorders have already started, it is currently unknown whether the undergarments will be available outside of Japan.
