Lilith Games has announced WonderPaws, an upcoming urban life sim developed by studio Cat Paw Latte. The new title is planned to release as a free-to-play title for PC (Steam), iOS and Android. The release date is TBD.
WonderPaws is set in an urban metropolis built and inhabited by anthropomorphic animals called Paw Pals. The city’s skyscrapers and neon-lit streets are home to a variety of animal residents, with the city itself designed around their different sizes, habits, and ways of life.
You arrive in the city as a human and, upon starting your new life there, share a home with Paw Pal roommates. The animals living in the city each have their own feelings, personalities, and jobs, making them companions rather than pets. According to the game’s trailer, players will be able to freely customize their apartment’s interior. You can even gather in the living room with your animal roommates to discuss how to decorate things. They may occasionally come up with unexpected suggestions, too.
Gameplay revolves around enjoying everyday life by exploring the city, making friends, cooking at home, and pursuing different careers. For example, if you find an audition poster for pop idols around town, you can invite your friends to apply. Alternatively, you can become an honorary mayor at Town Hall and listen to what different animal residents want changed around town. The trailer also depicts the player working at shops.
For the most part, players live in the city as humans, while all the animals appear as NPCs. However, during your adventures, you can obtain a “magic potion” that transforms you into an animal when you drink it. In this form, you can visit a human friend’s home, wait for them to feed you, get pampered with head scratches, and more. Taking your animal form out into the city also opens up new possibilities and discoveries, like using the town’s giant street-side grooming machines to fluff up your fur or rolling around in a sandbox.
WonderPaws is currently in development for PC (Steam), iOS and Android. Pre-registrations are open via the official website, with playtests also planned down the line.
