COVER reaches settlement with minor who spread false rumors about hololive VTuber. Legal guardians agree to pay damages
The settlement comes following a court ruling that determined the social media posts constituted infringement.

COVER Corporation, the company behind VTuber agency hololive, announced on October 28 that it has identified an individual who published false personal information allegedly belonging to one of its VTubers on social media. The person in question is a minor, which led to a settlement between the company and the minor’s legal guardians, with the latter agreeing to pay damages and provide future supervision to the youth.
Following a court ruling that determined that the posts infringed upon the talent’s rights – constituting slander and defamation – COVER identified the perpetrator through a request for the disclosure of the poster’s information.
Subsequent negotiations led to a settlement between the associated parties under several conditions. These include the deletion of the misleading posts, the submission of an apology letter by the offending minor, monetary compensation for damages, a promise not to repeat similar actions, and payment of a contractual penalty in the event of any future violations. The VTuber in question and compensation amount were not disclosed.
COVER took the time to remind fans that insulting or verbally abusing its talents, as well as publishing personal information and spreading false information about them, constitutes infringement of their rights and is subject to legal action. The company regularly posts updates on its webpage regarding cases that infringe upon its talents’ rights, and is set to publish an update on its measures against such conduct on January 2027.
