Japanese indie studio Chilla’s Art is trading the harpoons of its last title, Umigari, for the shovel of Snowed Under. This first-person horror adventure game has you digging through a snowy landscape as you make your way toward a mysterious steel tower.
As you dig through the snow, you’ll come across all sorts of landmarks and locations, as well as scrap materials. These materials can be used to upgrade your digging strength, stamina, and the number of items you can carry. Similar to Chilla’s Art’s other games, things get stranger the further you progress, with initial images showing what looks like an abandoned train yard or gas station and a humanoid creature on all fours with a very creepy smile.

Joining you is Kai, your loyal friend and an NPC whom you can talk to. Your relationship with Kai seems to be the crux of the story, as your conversations reveal more about each other and the world.

Snowed Under has an estimated play time of 2-4 hours. The devs disclosed that they used AI to generate art concept ideas, lay out textures, and create 3D model blockouts during pre-production. However, all assets in the game, as well as promotional images and thumbnails, were made by humans.
Snowed Under is currently in development for Windows (Steam).
