Bluesky adopts Japanese creator’s handmade logo for site’s “kawaii mode”

Japanese programmer and content creator Sawaratsuki specializes in making cute and playful logos of IT-related brands, programming terms etc., including Bluesky, Python, Discord and many more. Their portfolio of non-official “kawaii” logos can be found in their extensive GitHub repository

Recently, Sawaratsuki’s designs blew up on social media when the official Bluesky X account reacted to their logo and even adopted it to make a “kawaii mode” for the Bluesky web app. This mode switches the standard Bluesky logo into Sawaratsuki’s cute one and is activated by entering the parameter ‘?kawaii=true’ after ‘https://bsky.app/’ in the address bar.

Other sites such as React, Hono, Elysia and Vue (since removed) have also jumped onto the bandwagon by adopting their own kawaii or “uwu” modes, also using logos crafted by Sawaratsuki. Additionally, GitHub Japan is displaying the creator’s GitHub logo via their X header. Sawaratsuki appears to be open to requests from brands that want a logo designed by them.
