Spiral AI, the developer of the Atelier Ryza chatbot-style RPG RyzaChat:AI, has announced that it will be imposing user input restrictions in the game’s upcoming October AI model update. The restrictions come in response to concerns raised regarding player misuse that may potentially harm the reputations of the Atelier franchise and its characters.
In addition to reiterating the game’s terms of service, SpiralAI added that it will not tolerate actions that “disparage or damage the integrity of the source material.” This includes attempts to make Ryza’s character AI utter statements that violate public order and morals, as well as the creation of altered or forged screenshots that misrepresent the content of the game.
RyzaChat: AI already has a three-tier system in place to monitor interactions. Inputs are first received by a Game Master AI, which breaks down the content and removes inappropriate words before they are relayed to the character AI. Additionally, Ryza’s character AI is programmed not to engage in topics that are unrelated to her character or the game’s setting. Finally, a generated response from Ryza is immediately removed if it contains any inappropriate expressions. As an extra precaution, inappropriate content is blocked from being stored in the character AI’s memory.
However, it seems these existing countermeasures were not enough to prevent misuse, with users discovering ways to circumvent screening though prompt injections and similar means. In the upcoming October update, Spiral AI will place limitations on what users can input when chatting with Ryza. The developers are also considering further countermeasures such as character count limits, and will continue to monitor things.
When it comes to altered or fake in-game screenshots that misrepresent RyzaChat:AI, Spiral AI says it has begun filing takedown requests and issuing complaints to respective online platforms, among other actions.
Given how much importance is placed on character integrity, it is likely that these user input restrictions will also find their way into the recently announced SophieChat: AI, which stars Atelier Sophie’s protagonist Sophie Neuenmuller.
