Ace Combat 8’s Season 1 to include playable Pac-Man and Galaga among other Namco classics

A new teaser showcase the first four games to be included in Ace Combat 8's lobby.

Project Aces released a new teaser showcasing Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve’s online lobby on September 8. According to the developers, the game’s Season 1 will include playable versions of four classic Namco arcade games: Pac-Man, Galaga, Rally-X, and Dragon Spirit.

Ace Combat 8’s Air Base Lobby is where players can matchmake and launch sorties or participate in military training mode with up to four players. It’s also where you can just hang out with other pilots in chat, play nostalgic past Ace Combat OST’s via the Jukebox, and, most notably, play actual arcade games. The Namco classics announced this time around are described as part of Season 1’s content, meaning it’s safe to assume there will be other additions down the line.

Interestingly, Ace Combat brand director Kazutoki Kono chimed in following the announcement to explain why Dragon Spirit was part of the debut roster. Apparently, the dev team got hooked on playing it midway through development, but none of them were able to clear the game past stage three.

On a related note, Ace Combat 8 will also come with a port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War for those who pre-order the game, so that’s technically quite a few games bundled together.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is scheduled to release on October 2 for PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X❘S.
