Palworld: Japanese players appalled by calls for Pal x Human breeding

Palworld allows you to capture Pals, put them to work, care for (or neglect) them, and even breed them. Crossbreeding different species of Pals results in the birth of new Fusion Pals, making it a fascinating aspect of the game for many. However, there’s a dark side to everything, as there seems to be a growing interest in the possibility of breeding Pals with humans.

Palworld Pals

Palworld has over 100 species of Pals that you can capture and breed, including rare and boss Pals. Mating involves putting a male and female Pal in a Breeding Farm and placing a Cake into the chest attached to the farm. Once the deed is done, you end up with a Pal Egg that needs to be incubated and hatched.

Much like with Pals, Palworld also lets you capture human NPCs and do various morally questionable things to them – such as enslaving them at your base, selling them to Black Marketeers or butchering them for nourishment. However, Palworld draws the line at Pal-human crossbreeding, as it is not possible to place humans in a Breeding Farm. Furthermore, since human NPCs do not have a gender tag nor Passive Skills to pass on, they seem to have been made entirely incompatible with the breeding system.

This has not stopped certain parts of the Palworld community from dreaming – as a growing number of voices have been calling for the addition of a human-pal breeding function to the game, with users even addressing Palworld’s official X account on the topic. Though a portion of these are clearly satire (such as this Palworld parody of the infamous Breedable Vaporeon copypasta), some appear to be entirely serious, citing the exciting possibilities of half-Pal beastmen. At the same time, others appear to simply be lusting after the Pals themselves – especially the more humanoid-looking ones.

Meanwhile, the trend has caused the Japanese side of the community to recall traumatizing memories of Nina Tucker, with users commenting, “that’s a line that must not be crossed” and “I’ve realized that humans are the most terrifying thing in this world.” Many suggest that, rather than the broad term “human-Pal crossbreeding,” what the people are really trying to ask for is straight up “player on Pal” action.

Post translation: Stop

Palworld is still in its Early Access stage, with many updates and new features planned, which means that anything is possible in the future. At the same time, it is probably safe to assume that relationships between humans and Pals will remain without any elements of intercourse.

Palworld is available for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
