Super Mario Bros. Wonder: ways to do “infinite jumps” discovered
Users have been discovering ways to perform “infinite jumps” in Super Mario Bros. Wonder using certain combinations of power-ups. Some have been able to use infinite jumps to clear whole stages without going through any of the challenges. This article may include spoilers for gameplay elements of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a 2D side-scrolling action game and the latest title in the Super Mario Bros. series. In this game, Mario and the rest of the cast can transform into various forms that possess different special abilities. New power-ups include the Elephant Fruit, Bubble Flower and more. The Elephant fruit, for example, makes the character’s body grow big and elephant-like, with a long trunk that can be used for attacks and sucking in water to sprinkle around.
Additionally, Mario Wonder also features items with special effects called Badges, such as the Parachute Cap Badge, that lets you glide through the air as you fall, and the Floating High Jump Badge, that makes your jumps higher.
By combining these different power-ups, users have been figuring out ways to perform longer and higher jumps, and Reddit users have been reporting a couple of methods that allow you to do “infinite jumps” using the Bubble power-up.
The infinite jump demonstrated by @jiyucy above is a combination of the Floating High Jump and Bubble power-up. They jump off of a bubble generated by the Bubble power-up, while creating the next bubble to jump onto, and the repetition of this cycle results in an infinite jump.
By combining this trick with another Badge, another user managed to clear a stage by just flying over it entirely. Under the title “Jet Run + Bubble Power Up is Broken,” they demonstrate an infinite jump made possible by the Jet Run Badge.
By the way, the stage they clear in the video is the Jump! Jump! Jump! Stage in W2, in which you need to constantly jump on platforms in rhythm with the music. Being too early to jump means there will be no platform to land on yet, and being too late to jump can end up in the platform disappearing from underneath you.
In the video, however, they skip over the whole gimmick and just dash through the air, using the high-speed effect of the Jet Run badge to move forward while releasing bubbles to bounce off from.
With the various power-ups and combinations available, there could be other similar techniques waiting to be discovered.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is available for the Nintendo Switch.
