Japanese top manufacturer announces caffeinated “gamer noodles”

The Japanese instant noodle manufacturer Nissin Foods announced their first-ever “gamer-oriented” products on September 4. The “Nissin Gaming Cup Noodles: Energy Garlic & Black Pepper Yakisoba” and “Nissin Gaming Curry Rice: Energy Ginger Keema Curry,” were developed by the company inspired by the growing population of gamers in Japan and will go on sale on September 18.

Nissin Foods is considered to be the founder of cup noodles and is one of Japan’s leading companies in the industry. They also introduced the famous Top Ramen into the US. In their recent announcement, Nissin Foods commented that the gaming population in Japan has been growing year by year, especially among young people, and is estimated to have surpassed 50 million players. In response to this, the company decided to release new products targeted at gamers from their renowned Cup Noodle and Instant Curry Rice lines. Nissin describes the products as “a perfect meal for gaming breaks as they are brothless, ensuring that your hands and devices stay clean”, and playfully dubs them the “ultimate power-up meals.”

Both products feature a “gaming” LED light inspired design on their packaging. As for the ingredients, the “Nissin Gaming Cup Noodles: Energy Garlic & Black Pepper Yakisoba” includes “mystery meat,” shrimp, egg, and cabbage, while “Nissin Gaming Curry Rice: Energy Ginger Keema Curry” uses soy meat and carrots. Additionally, both products contain caffeine, arginine (an amino acid), and niacin (a vitamin). It seems that with the addition of these unique ingredients, Nissin is trying to cater to gamers with not only their products’ packaging designs but their contents as well.
