Developer of Goemon series announces new 3D action game Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!!
In Nintendo’s “Nintendo Direct 2023.6.21” Japanese broadcast it was announced that winter 2023 will bring a new Switch title by the developer Good-feel, titled Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!!
Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!! is an action game featuring the protagonist Bakeru, a tanuki (racoon dog) who is disguised as a human. Bakeru battles the evil-doing festival troops in various regions of Japan, using his taiko drum. He uses a stick that looks like a drumstick as his weapon, and his attack methods change as he transforms into different heroes from old Japanese fairytales such as Momotaro and Kintaro. Transforming into Momotaro gives him a gun-like long-range attack, and transforming into Kintaro gives him powerful axe-wielding moves.
The game seems to offer a variety of different stages, one of which appears to be a scrolling-shooter stage. The trailer mentions that there are epic battles between giant robots in store as well. One of the stages is the Gion Festival in Kyoto, where there appear to be some kind of collectible items titled “souvenirs” and “knowledge.”
Good Feel, the developer of this title, is a Japanese studio that has worked on many Nintendo titles, including Yoshi’s Crafted World and Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn. The studio was founded by the members who created the Gambare Goemon series at Konami. The newly announced game has a similar “Japanese flavor” to it as Gambare Goemon did.
Otogi Katsugeki Mameda no Bakeru: Oracle Saitarou no Sainan!! is planned to be released in winter 2023 for the Nintendo Switch.
