Nintendo offers free device repair for those affected by earthquake regardless of warranty
Nintendo released a “Notice about the repair of products damaged in the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake” on January 6. According to the notice, Nintendo will be donating 50 million yen in relief aid and offering to fix repairable Nintendo devices damaged in the earthquake free of charge.
Users living in areas directly affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake that struck on January 1, 2024 will be able to submit damaged Nintendo products for repair, which will be free of charge regardless of whether the product is still under warranty. The period of eligibility is six months from when the Disaster Relief Act was applied (until July 1, 2024). The 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake was a devastating, magnitude 7.6 earthquake. There have been several game companies making donations to support relief efforts, and Nintendo has followed suit, announcing a 50-million-yen donation along with the free repair plan.
