Arc System Works announces Two Jong Cell!! a bishoujo mahjong game with rule-altering abilities

Arc System Works has announced mahjong game Two Jong Cell!! for Japan. The game will be available digitally on PlayStation 4 for 2,490 yen (around $17) and is due to be released on November 24. It will be rated CERO C (for ages 15 and up).

Two Jong Cell!! is a mahjong game where you use rule-altering abilities. You take on the role of a new transfer student at a school where mahjong is incredibly popular and encounter the six heroines of the game. Your goal is to team up with your preferred heroine and become the top mahjong player at the school.

The game adds two kinds of new elements to the fundamental rules of mahjong. The first is Kizuna Tricks, cooperative techniques performed with your partner. By expending special Kizuna Points, you can activate a variety of effects; for example, swapping a tile in your hand with one in your partner’s hand. While such techniques would be considered cheating in real-life mahjong, they appear to be fair game in Two Jong Cell!!

The second element is Extreme Skills. Each heroine possesses her own Extreme Skills, which are activated incrementally as you build up the Extreme Gauge. These skills can influence the actual mahjong rules and allow you to create winning hands that would normally be impossible.

The game has an online multiplayer mode that lets you team up with a heroine for 2 vs. 2 matches or compete in four-way matches with three other players. There is also a story mode, where you can learn about the heroines and enjoy the game’s scenario, and a training mode, where you can brush up on the basics of mahjong.
