Kadokawa has announced a rulebook app for the Japanese version of the Call of Cthulhu tabletop RPG. Call of Cthulhu Rulebook PLUS (working title) will be released on iOS in 2022.

Call of Cthulhu is a tabletop RPG that is set in a world based on H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos. Players create characters known as Investigators, choose different stats and abilities, and aim to solve a variety of incidents that involve creatures from the Mythos. As characters encounter the horrors of the world, they will lose Sanity points, which if depleted, will leave them insane.

The number of people who play the game has risen thanks to the growing popularity on video sites and the spread of online sessions, and it is one of the most popular TRPGs in Japan.

The new app includes the rulebook for the Japanese version of Call of Cthulhu, published by Kadokawa, along with a variety of sourcebooks. It also features search and memo functions. The app is being developed in order to provide an alternative to traditional e-books that is easier to use.

The latest version of the Call of Cthulhu rulebook is the seventh edition, but there are many who still play using the sixth edition due to the scenarios it includes. It is currently unknown which version of the rulebook will be included in the new app. Furthermore, the app will be free to download but will include in-app purchases. This may mean that users can purchase existing books and then be able to view them within the app.
