Nintendo and Monolith Soft revealed a new song from the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 3 titled “You Will Know Our Names – Finale.” The word “Finale” in the song name immediately began trending on Twitter in Japan as fans began to wonder what it could mean for the series.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the latest title in Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade series. The game takes place in the world of Aionios where the Keves and Agnus nations are at war with each other, with Keves possessing advanced technology and machinery and Agnus relying on a substance known as ether. The theme of the game is “Life” in a story that weaves together the journeys of two 6-character parties attached to the militaries of each nation.

“You Will Know Our Names” is a popular music track from the Xenoblade series. In the first game, the song was simply called “You Will Know Our Names,” with “You Will Recall Our Names” appearing in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as a reference to it. Both were composed by Kenji Hiramatsu. These tracks are not only used in the story, but when facing off against strong monsters as well. With their energetic guitars and melodies to get players pumped up, it’s no wonder the songs are a hit with fans.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 version continues this trend while also incorporating the game’s symbolic flutes into the arrangement and will play during Unique Monster battles. But when the song was released, fans were soon interested in the word “Finale” in the title.

A number of connections between Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and the first two titles have already been hinted at. From the tribes, areas, and cultures to the way developers have mentioned how it will bring together the worlds of the previous two games to take players into the future. By the looks of it, the game is shaping up to be a conclusion for the series.

And then there’s “You Will Know Our Names – Finale.” As for the meaning of “Finale” here, only Nintendo and Monolith Soft know for sure. Perhaps it’s just the end of the You Will Know Our Names series of tracks. But when they directly put “Finale” in the title, there’s probably a meaning behind it. Furthermore, the Monolith Soft’s previous series Xenosaga concluded after three episodes.

But it’s too soon to jump to conclusions. Let’s just listen to the new song and look forward to the gameplay that’s going to accompany it when the game arrives later this month. Kenji Hiramatsu, who likely composed “You Will Know Our Names – Finale,” also made “The Weight of Life” and “Keves Battle,” so if you’re interested in hearing more, check them out.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is scheduled to launch on July 29, 2022.
