Konami has announced that their multiplayer murder mystery sim CRIMESIGHT will release on April 14. They are also accepting signups for participation in the Pre-Launch Play Session event.

CRIMESIGHT is a Whodunnit type of game about preventing a murder from taking place and guessing who the would-be criminal is. The year is 2075 and a predictive AI system has been implemented in London that has reduced crime by 90% worldwide. However, this AI system has now predicted an unavoidable incident that will destroy the world.

To avoid this, the AI’s developers make yet another AI called “Sherlock” that can solve heinous crimes before they occur in order to prevent the world’s predicted destruction. While working on numerous cases, Sherlock makes a discovery. At the center of these crimes is another AI called “Moriarty.” This AI is designed to predict peoples’ future achievements and have them murdered before they come to fruition. Between the two AI are 6 people trapped in a manor. And it has been predicted that one of them will be murdered. Sherlock sets out to prevent the crime and identify the villain, while Moriarty looks to kill their target in this simulated battle of the minds.

In the manor are 6 characters called “Pawns.” One is randomly designated the target, and another the villain. Players are then divided into 2 teams and put into a simulation. The goal of players on the Moriarty side are to get the villain to kill the target. To perform the kill, the villain must possess a weapon and be in the same area as the target where it’s not visible to anyone else.

The goal of the Sherlock side is to prevent the crime and guess the villain. If the target is still alive by the morning of the 4th day, the game moves to the final deduction phase. If a player on Sherlock’s side unmasks the villain, they win. If the villain is not revealed, the game ends in a draw. It’s also possible to guess the villain before the last day, with a correct guess resulting in a win for the player.

CRIMESIGHT is scheduled to launch April 14 on Steam, and the Pre-Launch Play Session will be held from April 9 – 10. For players interested in participating, sign up through the official website before the deadline of April 7.
