Bandai Namco Entertainment has released the latest update (1.04) for Tales of Arise. The main addition introduced in the patch notes is the save data transfer function, which allows players to transfer save data from PS4/Xbox One to PS5/Xbox Series X|S. However, what caught the players’ attention was the addition of a “function to not display DLC pop-up at campfire.”

Tales of Arise is a critically acclaimed RPG that recently won Best Role-Playing Game in The Game Awards 2021. It retains the charm of the series such as the exhilarating combat, character interactions, and a story with a grand scale, while improving places like the game systems and UI. There are over 13,000 user reviews on Steam (91% positive) at the time of this writing.

That said, not everything was well-received when the game launched. For some players, the pushy DLC pop-up was just too much. There is a variety of DLC available for purchase in this game, and every time you enter a campsite, DLC pop-up would show up with an exclamation mark attached to it. Campsites are your resting point and a place to bond with your party. But the DLC promotion was interfering with the sense of immersion, which had been criticized by many players on Steam.

Now, with the latest update, you no longer have to get annoyed by them. The DLC icon is still there, but the promotion popup text and the exclamation mark are gone. For those interested, you can still check the available DLC via the menu screen. The exclamation mark is still there as well.

Tales of Arise launched in September of this year, so the core fans have likely finished the game by now. Meaning, the DLC pop-up has served its purpose already. That might be one of the reasons why Bandai Namco has decided to take it down now.

Tales of Arise is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC(via Steam).
