DMM GAMES has announced the release date of Touken Ranbu Warriors. It will come out on February 17 in Japan. Gameplay footage was shown during the Japanese version of Nintendo Direct 2021.9.24.
Touken Ranbu Warriors is a Warriors spin-off title of the browser-based simulation game Touken Ranbu, which is quite popular in Japan. The series has been adapted into anime and film, but this is actually the first Touken Ranbu game coming out on a console. 15 swords (depicted as young men) from the original game are now in 3D and will fight in Japan’s Sengoku period.
Characters are divided into 5 units, with Mikazuki Munechika, Kasen Kanesada, Heshikiri Hasabe, Tsurumaru Kuninaga, and Yamanbagiri Kunihiro being the unit leaders. Silhouettes of other characters have also been revealed and you can actually see some of them such as Tonbokiri and Tomoegata Naginata in the new gameplay trailer. Conversation scenes and coordinated attack sequences can also be found in the footage.
Touken Ranbu Warriors is set to release on February 17 for Nintendo Switch and PC in Japan. Further information will be revealed at DMM GAMES’ live stream scheduled to start on September 24 at 8 pm JST (4 am PDT).
