Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed officially announced for PS5/Xbox Series X|S/PC

On September 17, publisher THQ Nordic officially announced Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed during THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. It’s a remake of Destroy All Humans! 2 released back in 2006, and it is set to release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Black Forest Games, the studio behind 2020’s Destroy All Humans! is handling this remake as well.

The story takes place in the year 1969, which is 10 years after the first game. Crypto-138, a newly made clone alien takes over Crypto-137’s place as the protagonist. The story unfolds as Crypto-138 seeks revenge on the KGB, who destroyed the alien Mothership.

Unlike the first game, which took place within US, the new Crypto will visit multiple countries including UK and Japan. It will be interesting to see how these locations will be remade in the remake version. You can see a glimpse of these locations, along with the “Kojira” monster in the trailers above.

Speaking of which, the trailer is accompanied by Rammstein’s iconic song Amerika. THQ Nordic also used a Rammstein song (Ich Will) for the announcement of previous title, 2020’s Destroy All Humans!, so it’s no surprise there. Just another wunderbar choice.

The first Destroy All Humans! released back in 2005, is a third person action-adventure game where you control the evil alien Crypto-137 to bring down the United States government. The story takes place in 1950s America, and you must embark on a series of quests to invade the US. Crypto is capable of using a multitude of alien weaponry and psychic abilities, as well as riding a flying Saucer to wreak havoc on mankind.

The remake version of Destroy All Humans! overhauled the graphics with Unreal Engine 4. The control scheme and UI/HUD have also been improved compared to the original. Content-wise, the developer added new challenges and new weapon/skill upgrades, and even restored the Lost Mission of Area 42 mission, which was not included in the original game. Since the second remake is being made by the same developer, the new game will likely receive similar treatments.

As a side note, the “Japanese” version of the original Destroy All Humans! was published by Sega back in 2007 with different story and dialogues, which was funny on its own, but the 2020’s remake version managed to re-localize it so the Japanese audience could experience the story as intended. The second game Destroy All Humans! 2, however, was not released in Japan at all. So, for many of the Japanese gamers, this remake will likely be the first chance to experience the game.

Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed is set to release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will support split-screen co-op with up to two players.
