Tales of Arise is showing itself to be a popular title on PC. Since pre-orders began on Steam, the game climbed into the Global Top Sellers chart and reached the top during the evening on September 5.

Tales of Arise was revealed in June of 2019 and is the latest title in Bandai Namco’s RPG series. The setting for the game is the opposing planets of Dahna and Rena. The story revolves around Alphen, a man who has lost his memories and can’t feel pain, and Shionne, a woman who is being hunted by her own people.

The game was developed in Unreal Engine 4 and features anime style graphics blended with a realistic watercolor style used to depict the game’s sprawling maps. The battle system expands on what the series has done so far and gives players a high speed and dynamic action experience.

In addition to its PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S release, Tales of Arise is also launching on Steam. When it comes to Steam, the Tales of series has had a bit of a troubled past. The series first appeared on the platform starting with Tales of Zestiria and was followed by the Tales of Symphonia remaster. But these titles came under fire for their lack of optimization on PC. At the time, it was rare for Japanese developers to put their titles on Steam and many of them were dealing with PC optimization struggles, and these two ports were no exception.

Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart is based on the amount of money a game earns rather than the number of copies sold. This makes it easier for an expensive game like Tales of Arise to appear on the charts. Scarlet Nexus, another game from Bandai Namco, also appeared on the charts when it launched. But with that being said, if you look at the SteamDB weekly ranking for the week ending September 5, Tales of Arise made it to the top 10, so anticipation for the game is high.

Tales of Arise is set to launch on PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S/PC (Steam) on September 9.
