Chilla’s Art to release complete remake of The Bathhouse, a game discontinued due to mysterious game-breaking bug
Japanese indie developer Chilla’s Art has created a Steam store page for The Bathhouse: Restored Edition, a remake of their discontinued horror walking simulator The Bathhouse.
The original game, set in a spooky Japanese bathhouse, was initially released in October 2022. However, about two months later, players started encountering a bug that prevented them from accessing an early in-game area, room No. 203. There had apparently been no updates to the game since its launch until the bug started appearing.
Chilla’s Art attempted to remedy the situation by advising players to delete old save data and the like, but were ultimately unable to find the underlying cause of the bug and fix it. Thus, the game was pulled from Steam in March last year after going through a series of updates.
Thankfully, The Bathhouse will be getting a revival soon. Apart from addressing past issues, the remake will feature a new storyline, enhanced graphics and environments, improved character models, new game mechanics and new characters. Screenshots reveal realistic and distinctly Japanese environments with a moody tone typical of Chilla’s Art games, such as Jisatsu. The developer warns that The Bathhouse: Restored Edition will contain adult themes such as violence, blood and nudity.
The Bathhouse: Restored Edition is scheduled to launch for PC (Steam).
