A VTuber by the name of ootamato (大田マト) has announced that their VR sandbox game Primitier is entering Early Access on Steam on December 2. The game takes place in an open world where players can build, destroy, and craft an assortment of tools and contraptions.

If you pick up a rock and hit it against a tree, you can cut down the tree at that spot. If you attach a rock to a plank of wood, it becomes an axe. By cutting apart and combining things together in VR, you can create a variety of objects, and nearly everything in the game can be used as materials for crafting.

With the introduction of the game’s physics system, factors such as an item’s size or weight will impact how it behaves. An example might be the length of the axe handle impacting how easy it is to swing, or the weight of the rock used to make the blade impacting how much force it has. The game also simulates, air resistance, lift force, and buoyancy. It does sound like water current simulation was cut, though.

Each object also displays visualizations for a variety of values. For example, if you hit a tree with an axe, the number will decrease, and the tree will fall when it hits 0. HP for enemies is also displayed in this way, and you can damage or split them into multiple pieces by attacking them. It’s also possible to change the in-game avatar with a VRM file, a file format for storing virtual character models. Furthermore, the game will not feature any online play.

ootamato also released a roadmap for what’s to come alongside the Early Access announcement. Plans for the near future include adding new biomes, plants, minerals, and a Holster System. Later updates are planned to include a terrain modification system, electricity, logic circuits, and a creative mode.

According to the game’s Steam page, it’s scheduled to be in Early Access for 1 to 2 years. A demo is also available on itch.io.
