Japanese VTuber agency seeks $65k USD in damages from person who created and profited off sexual content of its streamers

All-female VTuber agency VSPO! has reached an out-of-court settlement with a person accused of distributing sexually explicit images for profit.

Brave Group, the company running the all-female VTuber agency VSPO! (Virtual eSports Project), announced on February 16 that it has reached a settlement with an individual guilty of creating sexually explicit illustrations of its streamers and posting them to platforms such as X, Pixiv, Discord, and Patreon. The individual also admitted to profiting from the images.

VSPO!, like many VTuber agencies, prohibits the creation and distribution of content featuring sexual depictions of its talents, as well as the monetization of such content. In an out-of-court settlement, Brave Group demanded the deletion of the individual’s NSFW content and made them promise to abstain from creating future content that includes sexual depictions, infringes copyright, or is defamatory towards its talents. The company sought 10 million JPY (roughly $65,400 USD) in damages, while promising to waiver 6 million JPY ($39,200 USD) of the amount if the defendant agreed to pay up 4 million JPY ($26,100 USD) immediately.

According to Brave Group’s announcement, the damage waiver was included after the company determined that the culprit showed sincere remorse: “We evaluated the sincere response from the individual, including a heartfelt apology and the voluntary disclosure of all sales revenue obtained from the relevant illustrations, along with supporting evidence.”

The evidence also showed that the $26,100 USD damages request exceeded the culprit’s total sales revenue.

Moving forward, Brave Group plans to go after other individuals who have broken VSPO! regulations, particularly those related to copyright infringement and NSFW illustrations. It is also currently working on multiple lawsuits and negotiations against posters, websites, ISPs, and platform providers that create or host such content.

This isn’t the first time Brave Group cracked down on a VSPO! fan creator for posting sexual content. In January 2025, a doujin artist was asked to delete their content and promise not to make similar works. Unlike the recent case, however, the person was asked to pay 20 million JPY ($130,800 USD) in damages, with the majority being waived if 2.5 million JPY ($16,300 USD) was paid immediately.
