Publisher X.D. Network Inc. announced the release date of Moncage, a perspective puzzle game developed by Optillusion. It will come out on November 16 for PC (via Steam), iOS and Android. It will be $13.49 on Steam during the launch sale, and $3.99 on iOS/Android.
Moncage is a perspective-based puzzle game using optical illusions. A mysterious cube is placed in the center of the screen, and the player can rotate the camera to see the cube from different angles. Each side of the cube shows a different location, such as an old factory, a lighthouse, an amusement park, or a church. These are not 2D pictures attached to the surface of the cube. They are 3D landscapes shown within the cube, and the landscape happens to change depending on which side you’re looking at.
At first glance, each landscape seems to be unrelated to each other, but they are actually intertwined and filled with unexpected connections. The puzzle revolves around finding these connections. For example, one side of the cube shows a construction site, and the adjacent side shows a children’s room. If you look at them from the right angle, you can find a spot where a construction vehicle and a toy truck perfectly connect. In another scene, a painting hanging in a room is connected to the window frame of an abandoned building.
You have to use your imagination to find the right angle that would show the connections. There is also a guidance system to “help prevent players from getting stuck.” You can use this system to highlight the key items or ask for text hints. If those aren’t enough, you can even watch video walkthroughs.
When you solve the puzzle and find the connection, matching objects will start to move. In some cases, something unexpected will occur in the projected world. Also, by solving these puzzles, you’ll obtain photos from the projected world, which leads you to uncover the underlying story.
Moncage is set to release on November 16 for PC (via Steam), iOS and Android.
