Shin Megami Tensei V and all DLC to be delisted ahead of V: Vengeance release

Atlus has announced that digital sales of Shin Megami Tensei V for the Nintendo Switch will be discontinued as of June 13, 2024. Both the base game and DLC are set to be delisted from the My Nintendo Store.

Shin Megami Tensei V, the latest installment of Atlus’s Shin Megami Tensei series, was released for the Nintendo Switch back in November 2021. The title’s definitive version, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, is set to release on June 14 on the Switch, PC (Steam), PS4/PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X❘S. Aside from bringing the game to other platforms, V: Vengeance includes an additional storyline, QOL improvements, new characters and new game mechanics

Sales of Shin Megami Tensei V are set to be discontinued right before the launch of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. Both titles are priced the same at $59.99, and with Vengeance including more content, it is likely that the developers want people to play it instead of its predecessor. Below is a list of products set to be delisted provided by Atlus

  • Shin Megami Tensei V
  • Shin Megami Tensei V + DLC Bundle set
  • DLC Bundle
  • Return of the True Demon
  • A Goddess in Training
  • The Rage of a Queen
  • The Doctor’s Last Wish
  • Mitama Dance of Wealth
  • Mitama Dance of Miracles
  • Mitama Dance of EXP

While popular games getting follow up-releases with new content is a common occurrence, it’s quite rare for the original title to be discontinued, even when looking at Atlus’s history. For example, when Persona 5 Royal was released, the original Persona 5 was not delisted from online stores. While it’s common for companies to quietly phase out physical editions, terminating downloads seems like a bold move.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is set to release on June 14 for the PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Xbox Series X❘S. Shin Megami Tensei V and its DLC will be delisted from the Nintendo eShop on June 13, at 11:59 PM.
