On September 20, The Pokémon Company International announced a new Free-to-Play app called Pokémon Trading Card Game Live for Windows/Mac/iOS/Android. Mobile soft launch in Canada and the global open beta for Windows/Mac are scheduled later this year. The app will initially support English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
Pokémon Trading Card Game Live is an app that allows you to play Pokémon Trading Card Game online. It will be a similar but updated version of the currently available Pokémon TCG Online. The Sneak Peek Trailer shows a colorful and lively Pokémon TCG battle taking place. It’s worth noting that the new app will come out on both PC and mobile devices, making the app more accessible than before.
In addition, Pokémon Trading Card Game Live will introduce a Battle Pass system, allowing players to earn rewards by completing Daily Challenges. Rewards will include cosmetic items and booster packs. It looks like avatar customization will be another highlight of this app.
Pokémon TCG Online will be removed from the stores and servers will be shut down shortly prior to the launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. You can transfer cards to the new apps, but there are limits. According to the Pokémon TCG Online sunset FAQ, “players will be able to transfer up to four copies of a unique Pokémon TCG card, one copy of an ACE SPEC or Prism Star card, one copy of each part of a Pokémon V-UNION card, and 59 copies of a basic Energy card. Additional copies beyond these limits will not be transferred.”
Content like avatar items, unopened products and bundles, certain coins, card sleeves, deck boxes, in-game currency, Friends list, saved decklists will not be transferred over to Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.
Pokémon TCG Online has been around since 2011, but as mentioned above, it will be sunsetting prior to Pokémon Trading Card Game Live’s release. Be sure to check out the Pokémon TCG Online Sunset FAQ and Pokémon Trading Card Game Live’s FAQ for further information about the content transfer, if you’re using the Pokémon TCG Online app.
