Armored Core 6: Japanese users react to horny outcries of AC fandom

With FromSoftware coming out with Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon on August 25, excitement for the title has understandably reached a peak among admirers of the series in the past couple of days. Our Japanese site had reported on the emotional state of the fandom worldwide, in which mere anticipation could be seen escalating into outright sexual tension between Armored Core and its fans. Witnessing the horny proclamations of fans, Japanese users were perplexed, but also seem to have found something resonating within them.

Armored Core 6 is the latest edition in the custom-mech action game series Armored Core. The game allows players to assemble their own combat mechs – Armored Cores, by freely assembling parts and challenge missions. Armored Core 6 is the first new title in the series in about 10 years, making the hype for it more than justified. The new fan base that FromSoftware has cultivated over the past 10 years through their other titles also likely has their eyes on the new title.

Now, an article on our Japanese site recently reported on just how much excitement can be seen for the new release in the overseas community, a worthy representative being the r/fromsoftware community on Reddit. The thread “How is everybody feeling about Armored Core 6?” (un)expectedly revealed a pronounced sexual tone, with users making no effort to conceal their thirst and arousal for the comeback of “Armored Cussy”, starting from the top-rated response that says, “I’m feeling somewhat sexual if I’m being honest,” and others offering a simple but impactful “Horny.”

The sentiments were shared by many, with some users mentioning that feelings of horniness are a natural occurrence to them when FromSoftware games are in question. On the other hand, how did the Japanese side of the fandom react to the unabashed displays of lust? Naturally, a wave of “WTF” coursed through the community, with people asking, “I get being excited, but excited?” and expressing worry about potential new fans being driven away by the fandom’s freakiness.

However, soon enough, it became clear that the thirst for Armored Core is much more of a shared language than one would think, with more and more users going, “You know what, I get them,” and “Armored Core is halfway there to being an erotic game anyways.” What started as recognizing that the combined factors of Armored Core 6 being a “From game” and a 10-year-awaited sequel are enough to make peoples’ excitement escalate into arousal, quickly turned into “robots are hot” discourse, with people reminiscing about the particularly sexy elements of the game, such as Heavyweight Bipedals and Quadlegs.

Post translation: Reverse Joints and Quadlegs are so hot I’m about to bust Coral

One user even presented a hypothesis on why Armored Core 6 may be triggering such a response, raising a point different from the ones already mentioned, saying, “Your battle instinct is heightened→ you feel that your life is in danger → the instinct to leave offspring increases your sexual desire…?”

Additionally, the fandom’s shenanigans this time around reminded a lot of players of the similar collective frenzy that took place in the period right before FromSoftware was about to drop Elden Ring. Though, at the time, the irrational fear of dying before the release and never getting to play the game seemed to be more dominant. Regardless of their views on robot thighs, it seems everyone can agree that something about From games, Armored Core included, just hits different.

ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON is available for PC (Steam)/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S.
