Indie developer Toby Fox announced that he will be streaming DELTARUNE Chapter 1 from September 15 at 7 pm ET to celebrate the 6th anniversary of UNDERTALE. The live stream will be held with the help of Fangamer, who handles the merchandise for UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE.
Toby Fox’s popular RPG UNDERTALE was released for PC on September 15, 2015, and has since been ported to consoles. DELTARUNE Chapter 1 is the first chapter of Fox’s new RPG, DELTARUNE, which is currently in development. Chapter 1 is available for free on PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
DELTARUNE is said to be a game for those who have completed UNDERTALE. While the two games share a similar game system, DELTARUNE introduces new elements such as the party system. There are familiar faces in the game, but they are different characters who have experienced a different life. DELTARUNE depicts a brand-new adventure set in a different world.
Toby Fox is known to be a person of few public appearances, and will be joining the live stream using text-to-speech. In the announcement tweet, he mentions the 6th anniversary of UNDERTALE followed by the line “so we play DELTARUNE Chapter 1 for some reason.” The messaging is vague, so we’re not sure if the live stream will accompany new information about DELTARUNE or not.
Fox’s last report on the progress of DELTARUNE’s development was made in September of last year. Back then, Fox stated that the content of Chapter 2 is expected to be completed by the end of 2020. However, the game is not coming out episodically. All the chapters will be released together once the development of the whole game is complete, so it is hard to tell if the game is releasing soon or not. Let’s hope that at least an update on the development progress will be mentioned during the live stream.
