Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles Season 5 makes Treasures of Ruin usable

The Pokémon that can be used in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles Season 5 have been revealed. Pokémon No.1 to 398 of the Paldea Pokédex are expected to be usable, which are all the Pokémon in the region with the exception of Koraidon and Miraidon. This season also marks the first time that the Treasures of Ruin—Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu, and Chi-Yu—will be permitted in ranked matches.

The four Treasures of Ruin all boast high base stats and each has its own unique ability that includes the term “Ruin” in the name. These abilities lower the value of a certain stat (Atk, Sp. Atk, Def, Sp. Def) for all Pokémon on the field but themselves. This is an effective ability, not just in single battles, but also in doubles.

They also announced that the rulesets that were previously known as “Series” will be known as “Regulations” going forward. What was known as Series 1 is now Regulation A, and the currently ongoing Series 2 is Regulation B. Season 5, which will begin on April 1, marks the beginning of the Regulation C ruleset.

As with Regulations A and B, Pokémon obtained from Tera Raid Battle events, such as Charizard, Greninja, Walking Wake, and Iron Leaves, will not be usable in Regulation C. It’s possible that these Pokémon will be permitted for use in a future Regulation.

Furthermore, support for Pokémon Home, a service for managing your Pokémon online, will be added to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet this spring. This could mean that they will create a Regulation ruleset that allows players to use Pokémon from outside of the Paldea Pokédex.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles Season 5 is scheduled to begin on April 1.
