On August 5, Nippon Ichi Software announced the adventure game Asatsugutori, which is due out for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on November 25 in Japan.

Asatsugutori is a time loop investigation adventure game where you must make full use of your time travel abilities to go back in time and prevent certain incidents from occurring.

The protagonist is a second-year middle school student named Hibari. She wakes up one day to find herself in a strange room. She hears the quiet whirr of a machine, and what appears to be an IV drip feed is attached to her right arm. There, she meets seven other girls in the exact same situation. As the girls panic in confusion, an announcement rings out from overhead–“Only one girl, who survives until the end, will be able to leave the building.”

After that, the eight girls begin living together under these mysterious circumstances. But after a few days, the first incident finally occurs. Before their eyes is the “scene of death” of a certain girl. However, the next day, when Hibari wakes up and heads to the cafeteria, she finds that the girl who should have died is still alive, as if nothing had happened.

Hibari’s objective in Asatsugutori is to implement her time-traveling abilities to prevent these incidents from happening. The game flows between the Investigation phase and Avoidance phase, where you attempt to prevent the incidents. In the Investigation phase, the player controls Hibari on an isometric top-down map where she will investigate her surroundings and collect information by acquiring items and listening to what the other girls have to say in order to prevent the incident.

Investigation time progresses in real-time, and the obtainable information varies depending on the time of day. You will be able to repeat the time loop multiple times to collect all the necessary evidence. In the Avoidance phase, you will use the information gathered in Investigation to make deductions. Each action you take during Investigation will be key to preventing the incident in Avoidance.

The protagonist Hibari is an ordinary second-year middle school student with no special qualities. Although she has a nice personality, she tends to shy away from people when meeting them for the first time. She lost her father in an accident, and therefore has a relatively intense fear of death. Hibari will fight to save everyone using her newly-awakened time-travel abilities.

Hibari’s investigation partner is Matinee, a bright and energetic mood-maker. Having been raised in a household full of laughter, Matinee is often found with a smile on her face. Contrary to her appearance, she also has a child-like side to her. Taking an interest in Hibari, who is the same age as her, Matinee decides to accompany Hibari as her investigation partner. Details of the other six girls are to be revealed in future updates.
