While taking photos in Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme can be as easy as hitting the Quick Photo button, getting better photo ratings nets you more Fans and can potentially increase a Venus’s interest in you. Venus Vacation Prism can be pretty cryptic with its photo criteria, so it’s important to pay attention to the “Points to Focus” on and make use of Photo Mode to bring out your inner shutterbug:

Follow the “Points to Focus “
Three Points to Focus on are shown at the start of each chapter. By structuring your photos around these objectives, you can increase your photo ratings.

For example, your three Points to Focus on in Chapter 4 are “Take a photo of Misaki,” “Take a photo of Honoka,” and “Take a photo of Tamaki.” While you could take a photo of each Venus, your photo rating will increase if you manage to get two or more of the Venuses in one shot.

Points to Focus on won’t always be as easy or detailed as taking a photo of a specific Venus. Sometimes, you will be given objectives like “Take a profile photo” or “Take a photo of her looking serious,” which require you to take photos at the right time and angle to increase your score. The Time-Stopping Hourglass (which can be unlocked after your first playthrough or by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition) helps with taking more difficult photos.

At the end of each chapter, you are tasked with submitting six photos that encapsulate the Points to Focus. You can make the photo-choosing process easier by sorting them according to High Score. This won’t always put the photos with the most Points to Focus achieved at the top, but it makes finding the best ones easier. If you’re having trouble remembering your objectives, you can always view the current chapter’s Points to Focus in the Pause menu.

Photo scores aren’t always clear-cut
As mentioned earlier, the criteria for getting a high score photo in Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme is rather vague. You can get all the Points to Focus in a single shot and still not have a three-star photo. Inversely, similar photos will sometimes have different scores and star ratings attached to them.
Combining different camera settings such as zoom, filters, and exposures with unique angles and lighting effects will allow you to make the most of the game’s robust photo mode and find the best ways to increase your photo scores. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all, and being satisfied with your photos is an achievement in and of itself.
