Resident Evil Requiem: How to defeat the Girl

Here's our guide on how to defeat the Girl boss in Resident Evil Requiem.

Despite Leon Kennedy’s combat prowess and having enough firepower to wipe out the population of a small village (like he did in Resident Evil 4), it falls to Grace Ashcroft to take down the flagship monster of Resident Evil Requiem. It’s rather fitting that the Girl serves as both Grace’s introduction and conclusion to the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, as it shows just how far she has come as a survivor.

The final encounter with the Girl requires you to be more aggressive than before

Unlike Grace’s first encounter with the Girl, where the best she could do was throw Empty Bottles to lure it away, having the Requiem revolver provides you with a means to defend yourself as you activate three power distribution units.

Here are their locations:

Unit locations

After dropping into the boss arena, pick up the Requiem ammo in front of you and be prepared to shoot the Girl in the face (this will award you with the “Bring Out the Big Guns” achievement, in case you don’t have it yet). She will be stunned after one shot, allowing you to pass and make a left toward the closest power distribution unit in Chemical Treatment (all of the inactive units are illuminated by a red light).

Activating lever.

This first unit requires a long input to activate it, so you’ll need to make sure the Girl can’t see you or is stunned. Shooting at her with the Requiem is a good way to buy yourself some time. If you’re low on ammo and cannot craft any, you can use the spotlights dotted around the arena (they are marked with green lights) to temporarily prevent the Girl from progressing down certain pathways.

Missing lever

There is some light puzzle-solving involved for the second power distribution unit

Activating the first unit will restore light to part of the arena, giving you a place to fall back in case the Girl catches you off guard. Hug the left side of the arena, and you’ll eventually enter the Control Room, where the second unit can be found. Surprise, surprise, this unit is missing its lever. You won’t have to look far, as the item you need can be found in the Filing Room to your left after examining the second unit.

Second lever location.

As you return with your prize, the Girl will break into the room and toss you aside (this does not do damage). Now that she is blocking your way, you have two options: either run toward the nearest source of light or shoot her with the Requiem. I suggest shooting her to get her stunned first, and then activating the unit as she writhes in pain. Thankfully, this second lever operates as soon as the required input is pressed.

Use a spotlight to stop the Girl from getting to the third unit

After exiting the room with the second unit, hug the left side of the arena again and you’ll come across the third and final unit.

Spotlight on the third unit.

If you haven’t been managing your Requiem ammo reserves (or have missed a shot or two), you might not have an immediate answer to the Girl’s advances. Thankfully, you can make use of a nearby spotlight to prevent her from chasing you through the only entrance to the third unit.

Final Spotlight

Head up and activate the final switch

Once all three units are on and power has been restored, go back to the elevator on your left and head up. You’ll need to activate the switch that opens the hatch above, but the Girl will make one final attempt to thwart your plans. As with the third unit, make sure to turn on the nearby spotlight to prevent her from interrupting you while you hit the switch.

The Girl boss melting.

Bathed in sunlight, the Girl will naturally meet her end. While the game tells you to shoot her, it’s best to save your precious Requiem ammo for the later challenges.

The Girl is a boss fight that gets progressively easier the longer it goes on. Activating the power distribution units provides you with safe spots and easier access to Requiem ammo that is dotted around the arena.

Resident Evil Requiem is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (Steam).
