Resident Evil Requiem: How to defeat Plant 43

Here are some useful tips for taking down Resident Evil Requiem's Plant 43, the monstrous flora at the bottom of the crater in Raccoon City.

Blocking your entry to the ARK in Resident Evil Requiem is Plant 43, the monstrous flora at the bottom of the crater in Raccoon City. Much like the seedlings you fought before the encounter, this boss’s weak point lies inside its massive bulb (which also serves as its mouth).

Avoid its tendril slams by running around

Plant 43’s main attack consists of raising its two tendrils in the air and slamming them in quick succession. These slams have some light tracking to them and fall in a straight line, so you’ll want to constantly move around the small arena to avoid them. Another variation of the attack consists of a single slam, which is much easier to dodge as it covers less ground.

Focus on its mouth as much as possible

When it isn’t trying to squash you with its tendrils, Plant 43 will occasionally try to bite you with its bulbous frame. You can avoid this attack by keeping your distance and using the opportunity to shoot it in its mouth.

The boss will keep its mouth open for most of the fight, but in the rare instances it decides to close it, you can still hit its weak point by carefully aiming between its petals. On top of dealing damage to the boss, this will also force it to open its mouth for follow-up attacks.

Shoot the red explosive canisters to finish the fight

Once you’ve dealt enough damage, Plant 43’s bulb will exude green liquid, and a nearby truck on the right-hand side of the arena will open, exposing several red explosive canisters. Simply shoot the canisters, and the boss will burn to death.

If you’re running low on health and ammo, there are crates on the left and right corners of the arena that hold some helpful items. Plant 43 isn’t an especially tough boss, but it can be challenging considering the previous encounters can drain your supplies.

Resident Evil Requiem is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (Steam).
