While Monster Hunter Wilds has voice chat, it lacks the traditional text chat players are accustomed to in other games. In its place are various Shoutouts, Stickers, and Gestures – all of which can be customized with text that lets your party know what’s up (sadly, Poses cannot be customized). Here’s how to create your own custom communications:

From the Start menu, scroll to “Communication” and choose the “Communication” subtab. This will open all the available communication options and any recent communications you’ve used.

To change the text of a specific communication, highlight it and open the sub-menu titled “Edit Text.” After a short notification pops up and tells you that your edited text can be viewed by others, you will be free to add custom text to your Shoutouts, Stickers, and Gestures. Some Stickers cannot have text attached to them but apart from these few exceptions, you are free to write whatever you want on your communications.

Some helpful custom communications include ones that let your party know whether you want to capture or kill a monster, when you’re planting a defensive or offensive trap such as a Shock Trap or Large Barrel Bomb, or tapping out to resupply at a camp.

Inversely, you could create communications that make no sense and do nothing but liven up the quest. Custom communications create some of the funniest moments in Monster Hunter Wilds, and it’s always fun to see the interesting ways players express themselves. If you have any essential or funny custom communications, do let us know!
