Zenless Zone Zero: How to set up a controller on iPhone and Android

Just like with its hit games Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, MiHoYo’s Zenless Zone Zero allows you to play on the go on your smart phone. While playing an action RPG on a phone is doable, your fingers can easily end up obscuring the action. Thankfully, miHoYo added native controller support that allows players to free up that important screen real estate for Zenless Zone Zero’s draw-dropping graphics.

Controller support can be found in the Options menu

At the time of writing, the mobile version of Zenless Zone Zero officially four controllers. These are the Xbox One controller, the Xbox Series X | S controller, the DualShock 4 (for the PlayStation 4), and the DualSense (for the PlayStation 5). While other controllers can also be connected, the game might have some trouble reconfiguring the glyphs to their associated button layouts. Controllers can be connected to your phone either with a USB-C cable or wirelessly via Bluetooth.

After connecting the controller to your mobile device, you need to go to “Options” in either the Main Menu or the in-game menu. Choosing “Input” and switching the UI Layout from “Touch” to “Controller” will disable touchscreen controls and activate controller mode.

One of the handy features of Zenless Zone Zero is that it automatically changes the glyphs based on the connected controller. Switching to a controller also allows you to adjust camera sensitivity along with a bunch of other useful options. And that’s it! With just a bit of tweaking, you can switch your clunky touchscreen controls for the comfort of a classic controller.

Zenless Zone Zero is available now on PS5, PC, iOS and Android.
