Sega has announced Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut for the Nintendo Switch 2, slated to launch simultaneously with the console on June 5, 2025. In an interview with Famitsu, RGG Studio talked about what the new take on the beloved 2015 title will offer.
According to producer Makoto Suzuki, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will include episodes that were cut from the original game, totaling around 26 minutes of extra cutscenes. These will feature interactions between Kiryu and Nishiki, Kiryu and Kuze, as well as Majima and “somebody.” Suzuki suggests that these new scenes will delve deeper into things fans of the series are curious about, while not being too high context for first-time players.

Red Light Raid, the new online multiplayer mode that will feature in Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, was designed to make use of the Switch 2’s new chat functions and C button. In this mode, you team up with friends to battle hordes of enemies. The game will boast an impressive 60 playable characters that players will unlock as they progress. According to Suzuki, the online mode will be playable solo too.

The producer also confirms that Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will support 4K in docked mode and run at 60fps.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut releases on June 5 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
