Wuthering Waves Ver. 3.0 five-star character preview: Lynae, a free-spirited gyaru on a bike and Mornye, an enigmatic girl wielding a long-blade

Early preview of Wuthering Waves's upcoming 5-star characters Lynae and Mornye.

The free-to-play open-world action game Wuthering Waves is approaching its massive Ver. 3.0 update, which will introduce a new region alongside other additions to the game. Ahead of the big day, KURO GAMES has provided us with some early gameplay footage of Lynae and Mornye – the two 5-star characters coming out in Ver. 3.0’s limited gacha banner. In this article, we’ll take an early look at the new Resonators’ combat styles and in-battle behavior – both of which have been shrouded in mystery until now.

Lynae, a high mobility fighter with convenient bike travel

Highlighting her free and uninhibited nature, Lynae’s look evokes that of a preppy Japanese schoolgirl or “gyaru.” Her standout trait is mobility. The footage shows her gliding smoothly across the ground on roller skates, as well as riding a motorcycle. It appears the bike isn’t limited to paved roads, as it can climb dirt trails and rugged terrain as well. This could make Lynae Wuthering Waves’s most mobile character to date.

Lynae’s motorcycle appears to be part of her unique skillset. Combat footage shows her summoning the bike and ramming into enemies with it. Given its size and the speed at impact, it likely deals considerable damage.

Although Lynae is described as a Spectro-attribute character who fights with pistols, her combat without the bike still seems to capitalize on agility. She darts freely across the field, chaining attacks and leaping before delivering kicks, which looks pretty satisfying to pull off.

Mornye, a cool and enigmatic fighter wielding a mysterious power

While Lynae brings a bright, flashy vibe to Wuthering Waves, Mornye seems to be the opposite, a composed and aloof character. She’s described as highly intelligent, and appears to be a professor at Startorch Academy, the new setting for Ver. 3.0.

Mornye doesn’t summon a motorcycle, but the clip shows her levitating during combat. She wields a Fusion-attribute long blade, yet she also uses some kind of spherical mechanical weapon for her attacks, hinting at a more unconventional playstyle compared to past characters. Her Resonance Liberation (ultimate) appears to unleash successive bursts of special energy.

That said, the exact mechanics and effects of Lynae and Mornye’s skills remain under wraps for now, so we’ll have to wait for further updates regarding their full abilities and potential synergy with other units.

Wuthering Waves is available for free on PS5, iOS, Android, and PC (Windows/Steam/Epic Games Store). It has been nominated for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2025.
The Ver. 3.0 update, featuring Lynae and Mornye is slated for release soon. The exact launch date is TBA.
