White House now using Nintendo Wii Sports gameplay clips juxtaposed with war footage

On March 12, the official White House X account posted a video using gameplay from Nintendo’s Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort titles.

On March 12, the official White House X account posted a video featuring footage of U. troops’ activities, mixed with gameplay from Nintendo’s Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort titles. The gameplay footage was even modified to fit the agenda, with the Wii Sports title screen replaced by the words “Operation Epic Fury” – the name of the military campaign launched against Iranian forces on February 28, 2026.

Given Nintendo’s penchant for protecting its IPs, it’s a wonder that the White House video is still up. At the time of writing, there is no mention of the topic on the Nintendo of America or Japanese Nintendo X accounts, but given that commenters are already fervently tagging the company in the video’s reply section, it’s likely only a matter of time before the matter is addressed.

This isn’t the first time the official White House X account used popular Japanese media in its public posts. A few days ago, the official Yu-Gi-Oh! X account denied the franchise’s involvement in a “Justice The American Way” video, asserting that the post was made without permission from the rights holder. Likewise, an image using Pokémon Pokopia’s box art was modified to show the words “make america great again,” which The Pokémon Company likewise protested.
