Following Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation’s 7.5 anniversary celebration and the game’s continued success, series producer Yasunori Sakuda took some time to discuss the differences between the live-service game and the more recent Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme. As a full-priced, single-purchase dating simulator, Sakuda says the latter’s success and the possibility of a sequel rest largely in the players’ hands.
While Sakuda didn’t provide any specific sales figures, he considers Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme to be a success for the most part (source: Famitsu). However, as the 3D game came with costly new mechanics meant to boost immersion (such as a camera that allows the Venuses’ faces and bodies to track the position of the player), Koei Tecmo can’t promise a sequel so soon.

Sakuda is aware that many people haven’t heard of Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme due to the game being exclusive to Japan, Korea, and certain parts of Asia. He has also taken into account the fact that there are Dead or Alive Xtreme: Venus Vacation players who haven’t picked up Venus Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme yet due to their favorite girl/s not being featured in the dating simulator. While Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme contains unique features like the Venus interest system, robust photo mode, and photo ratings, the six-girl roster is rather small when compared to Venus Vacation’s lineup.
Despite Vacation Prism: Dead or Alive Xtreme’s shortcomings, Sakuda hopes that more people will play the game and appreciate the franchise’s take on the dating simulator genre. While there are currently no plans for DLC, Sakuda did mention that Team Ninja will “continue activities to help people learn more about the appeal of Venus Vacation Prism.”
Venus Vacation Prism –Dead or Alive Xtreme– is available on PS4/PS5 and PC (Steam).
