Vampire Survivors runs into unexpected legal issue preventing cross-save on PS4 and PS5

Poncle has announced that Vampire Survivors will not be getting PlayStation cross-save support as planned due to a last-minute legal issue.

Vampire Survivors is getting a major free update with the release of Patch 1.13 later this month. One of the most exciting additions announced for the update was cross-save support across Steam, Xbox, PlayStation and mobile platforms (with Nintendo Switch support planned for a bit later). However, there has been a change in plans when it comes to cross-save for the PS4 and PS4.

Poncle announced on April 8 that Vampire Survivors’ upcoming update will be releasing without cross-save support for PlayStation platforms. This is due to a legal issue that “requires us to share info on our partners that we’re unable to.” The developers were unaware of this issue until the last minute and apologized for the sudden change.

As for future updates, Poncle says the prospect of cross-save coming to PlayStation consoles is not impossible, but “very slim.” The developers are currently working with the platform to resolve blocking points.

Meanwhile, cross-save will still be available on PC, Xbox and iOS and Android when Patch 1.13 releases, and support for the Switch is still planned down the line.

Vampire Survivors has other ambitious plans for 2025, including the implementation of an online co-op mode, live-action movie adaptation and other cross-media projects.
