Japanese digital advertising company CyberAgent, the parent company of Cygames, held a financial results briefing on August 8, reporting an increase in revenue and profit in the third quarter of the fiscal year (between April and June 2025). As ITmedia news reports, CyberAgent’s game business has greatly contributed to its strong financial performance for this period, with the company naming the global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby As its third biggest hit.
The financial results for the third quarter showed a 10.9% year-on-year increase in sales and a 138.3% increase in operating profit, reaching 210.7 billion yen (approx. $1.41 billion) and 19.6 billion yen (approx. $132 million) respectively. On the other hand, CyberAgent’s game business saw a 30.4% increase in sales, 46.6% increase in net profit and a whopping 320% increase in operating profit, respectively reaching approximately $341 million, $55 million and $111 million USD.

Company president Susumu Fujita listed three games that largely contributed to the company’s profit, the first and most lucrative being SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL, with over 6 million downloads since its release in April this year. Right behind it was Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond, which has reached over 2 million downloads since its launch in June 2025. And finally, Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s English version was listed as the third greatest contributor to companywide profits. Fujita also emphasized the significance of Shadowverse and Umamusume’s contribution to the profits, given that they are IPs owned by CyberAgent.
Even before its worldwide release, Umamusume was already a best-seller in Japan and Asia, making over $2.4 billion dollars between its initial release in February 2021 and May 2024 andaccounting for 72% of Cygames’ mobile game revenue share. As its popularity only continues to grow, it is no doubt that Umamusume has become one of CyberAgent’s most lucrative games so far, and with its glowing Steam reviews, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to lose this momentum anytime soon.
