Toddler restores Metal Gear fans’ faith in the future of gaming 

It’s never too early to start getting into video games, as is proven by the TikTok user known only as metarukodomo (which roughly translates to “metal child”). Although not literally a child made out of metal, the toddler in metarukodomo’s videos astounds viewers with her knowledge of Metal Gear lore. 

While she may not know all the members of The Patriots, seeing a child mention that Sunny has two dads (Snake and Otacon) would be enough to make any Metal Gear fan’s heart melt. She even knows about some of the games’ secrets, such as when Venom Snake returns to Mother Base after a long period and is forcibly drenched in water to remove his stench. What’s cool is that this little girl speaks in both English and Japanese – making her Metal Gear truths sound all the more authentic and interesting. 

And who is this girl’s favorite Metal Gear character? None other than the side-switching, gun-toting Revolver Ocelot. The fictional character recently celebrated what would have been his 80^th birthday, so the little Metal Gear fan helped make him a DIY chocolate cake. But seeing as the celebrant was nowhere to be found, she and her family ended up eating the cake themselves. 

Based on metarukodomo’s first four videos, this little girl knows some of the events that happen in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots, and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The most recent video shows her watching a Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater trailer in anticipation of Big Boss’s return. David Hayter, the longtime English voice of Big Boss and Solid Snake, even took to social media to express his love for the videos. 

There hasn’t been a true Metal Gear game since 2015, but it’s good to know that the franchise continues to gain fans even after 9 years of dormancy. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is already bringing back interest in Metal Gear and will hopefully revitalize the franchise.
