The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy was actually “two games in one” all along, publisher reveals

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy publishers reveal that the game was actually a bundle featuring The Hundred Line and Hundred Line 2.

Back in April last year, Too Kyo Games launched The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, their first original title and “most ambitious” project to date. The visual novel TRPG quickly gained traction for its branching story that’s about 60 paperback novels long with a total of 100 different endings to experience – reaching around 180 of playtime on average. However, on January 16, it was revealed that The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy has actually been…two games in one all along? This might sound a bit strange to people who have yet to get their hands on the game, but for us who’ve already went through the 100 days of hell trapped in an abandoned high school, it all makes perfect sense.

As the publishers reveal, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is officially considered to be a bundle containing The Hundred Line and The Hundred Line 2. The first game features the first 100 days of your school life, while the second one depicts the events after the 100th day (minor spoiler: this is when the story starts branching for real), which was essentially a New Game+ in the context of the narrative. However, those who have completed the first portion of the game know that after reaching day 100, you get hit with a credit roll, and the title screen changes to make it obvious that past that point, you’ll be playing The Hundred Line 2.

To commemorate the big reveal, the publishers also dropped new key visuals for the second game, and it seems like from now on, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy will be marketed as a two-game bundle. Additionally, it was announced that on January 17, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy official soundtrack, featuring a total of 112 songs, will be going live on all major streaming platforms. A physical release featuring 88 songs hand- picked by composer Masafumi Takada and unreleased insert-songs from the original game will be going on sale on April 24, right in time for the game’s first anniversary.
