The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy prequel novels for individual characters in the works, according to director

During a recent live broadcast, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy director Kazutaka Kodaka shared updates on new in-progress projects.

While future DLC plans and an anime adaptation for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy are still up in the air, a series of prequel stories centered around the Special Defense Unit members is currently in the works. The news comes from game director and scenario writer Kazutaka Kodaka, who made the announcement during the 100-minute live broadcast held on August 2, to commemorate 100 days since the game’s launch.

While the medium and release date of the prequel stories haven’t been decided yet, Kodaka confirms they will be similar to Special Defense Force Prequel FILE 03: Hiruko Shizuhara’s First Battle. This short visual novel came as a pre-order bonus for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, offering a look into Hiruko’s life before the events of the game. During the live broadcast, Taihi Kimura, the Japanese voice actor for protagonist Takumi Sumino, read a synopsis of the future prequel story of Darumi Amemiya.

Kodaka is working on the scenarios with a focus on portraying the characters’ lives in the Tokyo Residential Complex. He isn’t sure if each Special Defense Force member will be getting their own prequel yet, but given the amount of writing he has already done for the game, it’s surprising how many Hundred Line stories he still has under his belt.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is available on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.
