Following the good news that Too Kyo Games’ gambit with The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy paid off, game creator and NOVECT head Keika Hanada hopes that his own studio will be able to deliver on its next project. Hanada says NOVECT has nearly exhausted all of its resources and is on the verge of being in the red.
NOVECT is a Japanese studio known for the The House of Fata Morgana franchise and more recently the Seventh Lair visual novel. Rather than banking on previous IPs, NOVECT’s next project is a new property tentatively titled “Project Code M,” which is set to be a murder mystery adventure game told from the dual perspectives of both the detective and killer.
Project Code M has been in development for at least three years. It seems that because of the lengthy development time and NOVECT’s status as an indie studio, funding for the project is currently running low.
Upon hearing the news of NOVECT’s financial uncertainty, several fans of Hanada and his games have rallied to the studio’s support. Calls to crowdfund the project have been turned down by Harada (running a crowdfunding campaign isn’t feasible for the studio’s current position). Still, he is thankful for any donations that are sent to the NOVECT pixivFANBOX – a webpage where the studio posts regular updates, developer diaries, and downloadable artworks for supporters. It goes without saying, but purchasing any of NOVECT’s products (games included) will help the studio keep the lights on and hopefully help the developers cross Project Code M’s finish line.
