The Exit 8 creator announces new third-person horror game Pale Dots

Following The Exit 8 and its sequel Platform 8, solo indie creator Kotake Create is working on a new horror game title Pale Dots.

After the success of anomaly-spotting game The Exit 8 and its sequel Platform 8, Japanese solo developer Kotake Create has finally lifted the veil from his latest title, Pale Dots. Previously titled “Strange Shadow” and set for a 2025 release, the action-adventure horror game has been for the time being.

Pale Dots, which was previously in the works under the title “Strange Shadow,” has been renamed. I’ll update the Steam page at a later date too. Furthermore, whilst I was initially targeting a 2025 release, the launch will be delayed due to circumstances of development. A new release date will be announced as soon as its finalized. I sincerely apologize.

While Kotake Create says that the screenshots and videos on Pale Dots’ Steam page are from an old build, there is still some information that can be divulged from the text. For starters, Pale Dots is a third-person horror adventure game set in space. As an astronaut who crash-lands on a mysterious planet, you must run and hide from giant monsters while searching for a way home. Gameplay details are scarce, but you will be using “various actions” to escape the planet and its massive locals.

I’ll be exhibiting my new work-in-progress title, Pale Dots, at Tokyo Game Dungeon 10 on November 9! It’s a game where you aim to escape from a planet inhabited by enormous beings. I look forward to seeing you there.

The system requirements for Pale Dots aren’t too demanding, as you will only need a 64-bit processor and operating system, 8GB of RAM, and 9GB of space to run it. An updated build was shown at the Tokyo Game Dungeon 10 indie game exhibition on November 9, and fans can expect Kotake Create to upload more information, screenshots, and videos as the game nears completion.

Pale Dots is currently in development for PC (Steam).
