Tekken 8 fans upset about lackluster Atelier Yumia collab

Although it's free, Tekken 8's new collaboration with Atelier Yumia has not been received with much excitement.

This July, Tekken 8 and Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land are set to enjoy a series of collaboration content with each other. But while Atelier Yumia’s free Tekken 8 content includes a new sidequest, a Reina-themed costume (complete with matching Rage Art), and a fight against a Heihachi-looking Blue Puni, Tekken 8’s Atelier Yumia content seems just a hair short (literally).

The highlights of Tekken 8’s Atelier Yumia collab are the equippable Yumia cowlick and Blue Puni accessories. Separate from Hair customization options, the cowlick and the Blue Puni can be equipped on any character, regardless of whether they look good wearing the items. The collab also includes an avatar T-shirt, background, and themed Title Plates. All of these items can be redeemed for free from the in-game Tekken Shop following the recent July 8, CEST update.

Though both Tekken 8’s and Atelier Yumia’s collaboration content are free, people have pointed out the difference in the amount of effort put into them. Many Tekken fans are disappointed that the collaboration does not include an Atelier Yumia outfit for Reina (which can be seen on the collaboration’s promotional art). The lack of a collaboration outfit combined with the similarities between Reina and Yumia’s hairstyles makes it seem like Bandai Namco underdelivered.

More details regarding Atelier Yumia’s Tekken 8 collaboration content will be released before its arrival on July 23, PDT. From what people have seen from the recent Tekken Summer Updates video, it looks like Koei Tecmo has more in store for Tekken fans.

Tekken 8 is available for PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
