Tekken 8 announces Anna Williams as first Season 2 character

After throwing fans a curveball with the release of Clive Rosfield, Tekken 8 returns to form with the announcement of Anna Williams.

After throwing fans a curveball with the release of Clive Rosfield, Tekken 8 returns to form with the addition of one of the franchise’s most popular characters. Anna Williams, the younger sister of Nina Williams, is Tekken 8’s next playable fighter and the first of four characters in the Season 2 pass.

When players last saw Anna in Tekken 7, she was getting ready to be married to an elite soldier she met while working for G Corporation under Kazuya Mishima. Unfortunately, Anna’s fiancé was also an executive of the Italian Mafia, making him a prime target for his soon-to-be sister-in-law and for-hire assassin Nina Williams. Nina supposedly murdered Anna’s fiancé, rekindling her sister’s hatred for her. Anna has been hunting Nina ever since.

Based on her Tekken 8 gameplay trailer, Anna’s obsession with her sister seems to have overtaken her love and grief for her fiancé. She’s as witty as ever, referring to Nina as her “inferior half” and occasionally spouting innuendos. She also looks to have fostered a rivalry with Lidia Sobieska, as the two can be seen sparring in the trailer.

Anna Williams's Lovely Tom in Tekken 8

n terms of gameplay, Anna plays somewhat similarly to her sister Nina. Her rocket launcher, Lovely Tom, seems to be the star of the show, as she can use it to clobber close-range enemies and blast them from afar. Lovely Tom can also be used to perform feints, which can throw foes off-guard while Anna performs different moves.

Anna Williams arrives in Tekken 8 on March 31 (PDT) for Early Access adopters and April 3 for everyone else. Tekken 8 is available for the PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X|S
