Switch 2 consoles scalped and delivered before launch day by self-proclaimed “King of the Scalpers” in Japan

Japanese Nintendo fans can't figure out why this suspicious reseller was able to secure such a large stock of Switch 2s.

Though the Nintendo Switch 2’s official release is June 5, this hasn’t stopped some from reselling the console and promising to deliver it before the destined date. Japanese reseller Kaitori Enoking, who call themselves the “King of the Scalpers” on X, recently put up 110 Switch 2 consoles for sale at increased prices, all of which have since sold out.

For delivery on June 4:
Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese language only) 10 units ⇒ 65,000 yen (excluding tax)
Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese languageonly) Mario Kart World Bundle 100 units ⇒ 70,000 yen (excluding tax)
If you decide quickly, you can pick it up after noon on June 4th, the day before the release date.

Ten of the resold units are regular Switch 2s, while the remaining 100 units come bundled with Mario Kart World. For price comparisons, the regular Switch 2 costs 49,980 JPY ($346 USD) while the Mario Kart World bundle costs 69,980 JPY ($485 USD) in Japan. Considering the increased prices are still cheaper than the units meant for other countries and that buyers will be able to get the consoles before the official launch, it’s no surprise that all of the resold units sold out in a couple of days.

A subsequent post by the account suggests that the reseller has given up on delivering Switch 2s to individuals before the official launch due to “past trouble,” but that it will still be doing so for legal entities. Moreover, they promise to offer “ample stock” on launch day and encourage individuals to buy from them. More recent posts on their X account talk about their devotion to “reselling to pureblood Japanese people” and “true gamers” at a “fair price,” likely in an attempt to take moral high ground over overseas resellers. However, many Japanese commenters are upset with Kaitori Enoking’s practices, banding together to report the behavior to Nintendo.
