Street Fighter 6 saw an increase in concurrent players last week following the release of classic villain Sagat. While franchise veterans may have a soft spot for the one-eyed Emperor of Muay Thai, it seems that players were just as excited (if not more so) for the first batch of new swimsuit skins.
Six swimwear outfits (for Cammy, Chun-Li, Manon, Luke, Kimberly, Jamie, and A.K.I.) were released alongside Sagat as the first part of Street Fighter 6ās Outfit 4 collection. While the other characters will be getting their outfits at a later date, the first six outfits are turning out to be well-received by players, with several fans rocking the new threads and creating related content. Aside from the outfit theme, players are just happy to see the game provide new clothes for the main roster, as opposed to recolors and avatar cosmetics.Ā
Street Fighter 6 saw a peak of 50,975 concurrent players on August 4 UTC, which was around the time when the Sagat update was released (source: SteamDB). For reference, the game averages about 25,000-30,000 concurrent players, with the number spiking every time a new update drops. When it comes to character releases, Akuma has seen the highest player increase with 70,202 concurrent players, followed by Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard (the first crossover characters in the series) with 63,218 and 54,280 concurrent players, respectively.
